anyone have an HPI account, or know of a reasonable online/telephone service for this, regards, mark.

Hi marksparks999 you dont need an account you can do it online yourself costs £39.95 pay via creditcard or by telephone for £42.95. I used them a few years ago on a car I bought that seemed to cheap ,turned out car was ok and I got a bargain.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

As it happens i have bought it through ebay and used their system, which as far as i can see is a discounted HPI check for £6.99 per car... the good news is it has come back clean and have saved myself about £1000-£1500 on list price for this vehicle. :D

Just hope it looks as good in when i see it... photos and seller seem genuine enough! :/

But I bet it is only about 1% of the people that have `abused` the system! :)
