You should check out this web-site for some tips as it sounds like the firmware on your dvd-rom drive will only alow you to change the region of your player 4 or 5 times before it locks the drive.

www.firmware.fr.st

In brief, download a utility such as driveinfo or dvdinfo from the site. Run this and it should tell you the make/model of your dvd drive and the version of firmware its using. (e.g. ESC6, EJC4 etc...)

Search the site for a patched version of your firmware which will allow the drive to be multi-region(RCP-1) with the help of dvdgenie or similar product. You`ll then have to flash your drive with this patch.

Make sure you know what your doing before you try this as it can go wrong and you`ll need to flash the drive with your original firmware.

Definately do as "r8sso_2" says. But also, instead of using DVD Genie use DVD Region Killer instead http://www.elby.org/RegionKiller/english/index.htm). it works a treat!
