Cancelled sky broadband - router not collected - what should I do?

Hi all,

Back in January I signed up for Sky broadband but due to poor performance I cancelled it during the trial period (28/1) and wen`t back to my existing supplier (1/2).

When I cancelled, I was told that someone would be round to collect the router, but over 3 months have passed and no-one has been to collect it.

Is there a certain time-frame whereby the router now becomes my property, or do I simply have to keep it until Sky finally get their backsides in gear?

I`ve checked the T&Cs but there`s nothing there. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they have a "window" in which to collect equipment, but can`t remember where it was for the life of me!

I hope someone can help

Seriously write to Sky giving them seven days to collect their equipment and inform them that if they do not do so you will dispose of it.

I take it the mail order goods rules would apply which is that you need to have the goods available for collection for a period of 6 months, after which legal title passes to yourself.

And by available that means if they try to collect it but you are out etc. then that restarts the 6 month period (AFAIK)
You`ll probably find it`s not worth their while to get it collected in a hurry as although we pay around £50 for a standard router, they get it cheaper as it`s branded and bulk purchased. Wait the 6 months and if there`s nothing from them I believe it`s yours.

Thanks guys. Thought it best to run it by someone else first. I`m moving out on Wednesday and wanted a wireless router for the new place so was gonna use the Sky one, but as it`s a little bit of a grey issue I think I`ll just go for an ISP that gives a free wirelss router instead

had the same problem, email the customer support, tell them it`s going in the bin within the next 5 days unless they send you return details, they will then send you a freepost retuns label via email......
