Father in Law wants to get BB - never had internet before.
I`m on Orange purely as its free to me for having mobile, so I know its not the best for paying money wise...- but looking to get him best deal and with a free wireless router or hub....and no connection.
What do you recommend?

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i`m dying are the best i`ve ever had.

Be Honest - best Broadband?
cable BB (currently under the virgin banner)
but it`s not necessarily the cheapest, but thats not what you asked ;)
Forever <M.A.D>
Not necessarily the best in many areas at the moment either ;) Also, it`s going up in price by £2/month in May thanks to the upgrade. I don`t remember asking for the upgrade, so why should I have to pay for it? Still, not as bad as those who will have to pay £25 for an engineer visit to replace their unsupported modems...
RE: Be Honest - best Broadband?
mine`ll still be £17.50 when it goes to 20 meg :)
are you still having problems with yours ?

Then drop down to the "L" package whenever that is upgraded to 10Mb and save yourself the money? :D:D
I haven`t had a letter about this - but it seems some are getting charged the £2 and some aren`t, is it to do with other services taken? I remember it used to be £5 more for those who didn`t take an additional service.

I had to swap from the Scientific Atlanta modem to a Motorolla one in order to use 10Mb, and they didn`t charge me anything, so that`s a shame they`re charging now. I`m *assuming* my Motorolla can cope with 20Mb cos it did when they had the trial last year.

It is £2 extra if you have no other services. Letter today..
There`s me saying recently I`ve only paid £17.50 for over a year..... forgot to call and the £35 went out today....... Anyone got the retentions dept number?.... ;)

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
If you are looking for DSL then go with Zen, particularly if the FiL is a novice. Zen`s tech support and customer service is second to none.
I`m Just about to dump BT. Believe me, they are the worst for price and speed and tech help.
£30 for 0.9MB
Virgin is going in on Wednesday. £35 for 10 MB YAY!! :) :) :) :)
My DVD collection
cassius76 :) :)
If you do go with Cable, don`t bother with the free "PC Guard". Just install freeware security yourself.

Research the cost of a full package from the competitor you potentially would leave for, and quote that.
