Channel 5 Sound Issues

TBR (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 18th February 2007, 19:45

Can anyone explain why the sound on Channel 5 is now ruined by intermittent drop outs that sound like someone putting their fingers on a record to slow it down? I noticed it in Prison Break last week but Batman Returns is currently unwatchable because of this.

Is it a cunning plan to stop people from making recordings?

Any ideas?

C4 played a recent movie (forgotten the name) in mono!

I found the same problem with Prison Break this week! I thought it was my amp and was messing around with it trying to sort it out so in a funny way I`m glad it was Five and not me!

I have the same problem.. must be a bug in their file playout system..... or the Sky encoder is on the blink..

If its the Sky encoder I would say it would be doing it on the other channels too. Besides, whats the likelihood that everyone`s encoder dies at same time?

Its the channel. Everything ive watched on it since the weekend has sound live someone f***ing around with a pitch controller on a record player.

The fact that it has gone on this long is a disgrace, quite frankly.

Oh, fwiw, im on sky. Would be interesting to see if its platform specific.

I nominate you to see if its platform specific then Nick.
The analogue signal for Five in my area in non-existent so I`m out of the running.

Me too. I havent actually bothered trying to get an analogue signal since I moved here because, apparently its terrible for all channels.

I just had a quick squizz over at digital spy and it seems to be on all digital platforms, not analogue. Apparently 5 have responded to this technical issue by bouncing all emails.

Nice one.......

I struggle to watch Channel 4,because I get this little `anomaly` appears on the screen.
A little white line, perhaps 2 inches long and a couple of mm`s thick, regularly and repeatedly flashes in the top right portion of the screen.
It`s the only channel I get a problem with.
Weird.
