A Question for all those who download TV programmes etc.

Ben Franklin (Reviewer) posted this on Sunday, 10th December 2006, 15:06

How do you watch them? I mean, do you sit at your computers, burn them to disk, or stream to your TV?

I backup everything I get generally, once I have got the whole series. But burning individual episodes can be a bit of a pain. Would much rather stream them to my TV if its at all possible. Just looking for options really, so wondered what you guys did.

Cheers!

On my PC - avi files look crap on a 42" plasma!
I have them on my HDD and when I`ve watched them, I transfer them to an external hard drive.

I`ll watch them on the PC, as I tend to download HDTV versions, which sync out when you try to burn them (see other threads on Burning `Lost` episodes).

I burn onto CD every episode but only because I have a mate who I give all them to and then once it gets to half way through a series I will burn onto a dvd.

I am actually just at the moment setting up my pc to stream to my 360.

Cassius76 has put me onto this

Haven`t actually sorted it yet myself but seems exactly what I`m after. If you haven`t had the wireless adapter for the 360 you can pick it up from Great Universal for £36 (£45 but 20% off first orders) you will have to wait a bit longer but its £20 off.

I got mine when I got my 360 from them in the summer when that worked out the cheapest way to get a 360, took a couple of weeks for the wireless adapter to come.

streamed from my pc into my xbox, but alternatively i could use a divx compatable dvd player/recorder, but streaming is more convienient & you have less discs lying around :)

Watch them on my PDA or PC.

Bought a HDD caddy that could playback avi files, results look poor on a 28" crt as well.

All methods really. Somtimes I will just watch a single episode of Family Guy at the pc, sometimes burn a couple of dvds of a series and watch them over a weekend using the divx playback on my dvd, and sometimes stream them to my laptop using VLC, which I plug into the TV using the video output.

normally I only burn to a DVD if I want to keep something for good. I dont bother keeping stuff like CSI or smallville so will stream them instead.
