Sorry i`m a bit of a novice and i see video CD`s advertised on some web sites. Obviously they are not as good quality as DVD`s but what is the story with them.

Films usually in VHS quality recorded on a CD. Normally a film is spread across 2 CDs as 1 can`t hold the whole film. Although its a recognised format it never really took off in a big way but is still used today for karaoke and piracy.

Whats good about them now is you can make your own using a CDWriter. Go to http://www.vcdhelp.com for more help on that topic.

This is just my personal opinion and some ppl may beg to differ but vcd`s are an absolute waste of money, yes they are very cheap but the quality is poor, why do you think it never really took off. Why would anyone want to watch highly inferior vcd`s after investing in a dvd player which is capable of so much more is beyond me. But like sparkster says they are great for piracy and you`ll find a large selection at any car boot sale if you are desperate to see a movie b4 it has been released.

Cor blimey they are cheap. Ingoldmells market (near Skegness) has loads of market stalls selling the newst cinema releases on VCD 3 for £10 and the quality aint too bad either, they even let you view them first!.
You can also find Playstation games 3 for £10 and music CD`s 3 for £10 and Videos £5 each.
There must be at least 15 stalls there selling this gear.
