grrr - more eBay shennanigans (apologies for more ebay related nonsense)
Hi Guys
i won a sony ericsson v600i a few weeks ago (13th aug) and as the seller
didn`t do paypal, we agreed that i`d send a postal order, and that i`d pay
extra to have the phone delivered by special delivery to my workplace
so that i could get it unlocked before we went on holiday on the 19th.
i sent the PO out on monday 14th (recorded) and on wednesday emailed the guy to ask
when he would post the phone, to which he replied thursday, so i "should" get it
either friday or saturday, to which i replied that as it`s SD it`s guaranteed next
day, so i`ll see it friday then?
inevitably, the phone didn`t turn up before we went away, and despite emails from me
in the meantime, i`ve had no replies at all from the seller.
it has just turned up today (31st) with six poxy first class stamps (£1.80 ish?) and it`s
smashed to f*** and nothing like his description.
i`m not normally bitter, but this has p***ed me off big style and now i`ve got to
go through the channels to try and get my money back..... >:(
here`s some pics to show that there`s no transit damage to the box and what the screen
looks like:

Jesus, you win the `s***tiest ebay story of the week` award.
That`s shocking.
You have every right to be extremely p***ed off.
What is your next port of call then ?
Money back from ebay ?
Doesn`t look like he`s got any case against the Post Office, even if he did bother with insurance.
Phone was evidently damaged prior to packing.
Can you let us know what feedback you get,as there`s nothing worse than yet another unresolved story ?
RE: grrr - more eBay shennanigans (apologies for more ebay related nonsense)
Jeez , what sort of feedback did this guy have ?
I can`t believe that anyone with a reasonable feedback rating (who wants to sell on Ebay again that is) would pull a stunt like that.
If he does have a low(ish) feedback rating , is it mostly (or all) from sellers , as he may have `bought` the feedback by buying a bunch of low priced items - ebooks for example - to set himself up for a scam like this. A lot of people just look at the feedback numbers , without checking the story behind it.
All this is , of course , no help to you , but it may help you to see if it is going to be worth following up with the seller or if it was just an out and out scam.
£1.80 in stamps - there sure wasn`t any insurance in that !

what a to55er.....link to the auction please so we can avoid like the plague.
why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive
RE: grrr - more eBay shennanigans (apologies for more ebay related nonsense)
Go to the dispute console in "My eBay" and file a claim. Escalate it immediately. If they find in your favour, eBay will take some for admin fees;but it`s better than nothing.
Since you know his home address you can make a claim through Small Claims court, you can claim online.
Keep the envelopes etc.
Go on the eBay message boards, there`s really expert people on there, post the item number too.

RE: grrr - more eBay shennanigans (apologies for more ebay related nonsense)
Hi Guys
the guy was a "noob", recently joined so although he had no feedback, i always
tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, after all we all have to start somewhere.
he`s recently sold a few other items so i`ll see what other`s have to say about him.
the lack of response to emails after the auction should`ve set the alarm bells
ringing really, it`s just that i was keen to get the phone before going on holiday.
xfg, i`ve started a dispute since i hadn`t received the items after two weeks, as a
result, it arrived a couple of days after the dispute was started....for some reason
i`m unable to escalate the dispute...it`s not selectable.
i`ll maybe link the auction details later when i get home.
thanks all for the advice etc.

Well I`ve done my bit. Sent him a message telling him to give Ste his money back! Now if we all do that, he might freak out and do the right thing....
I said might.
Ste - don`t think eBay can refund you as it didn`t go through PayPal. Personally I`d be inclined to pay the guy a visit and "insist" that he gives you a personal refund. Just how far away does he live? You get his address info when you complete the sale screens...
Some say I`m from Biddenden. Some say my name`s Sue. Some say I`m really Marge on a mission.
RE: grrr - more eBay shennanigans (apologies for more ebay related nonsense)
LOL Sue :D
he`s from st leonards-on-sea (brighton way i think) so i don`t think i`ll
pay him a personal visit...it`d cost more than i paid for the phone in fuel!!
anyway, the dispute goes on, let`s see if he`ll do the decent thing and return
my moolah
i`ll update if i hear anything.
