read the paper this morning, and one of the w***ers-in-charge of things has commented that Asians should be subject to increased security. out of the 4 crackheads in the july bombings, 2 were non-asians (africans), in the current raids, 3 were non asians (britons converted to islam). dont they understand that terrorists come in all shapes and sizes...

this has me fuming because I am an asian, and even though not a muslim (to pull aside all muslims was also suggested - i can see where bin laden will get his next set of recruits from) I am scared that I am going to be pulled aside and done something to by police... does anyone think this is the done thing?

If the police were all impartial and nice, I wouldnt have a problem with it - but I dont think they are (they are humans after all), so I have a problem with this... why not search all the crackheads who get on the plane - who would have more of a chance of turning terrorist than me...

I am slowly getting fed up of this place. if things like this continue, well rot in hell is a term comes to mind.

the national anthem of this country is god save the queen - i think it should be changes quickly to god save this country...

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

They all,pretty much,fit a certain profile though.
I don`t see how anyone can deny that.

I have no problem with profiling.
If I fitted the profile,I would have no problem complying with the authorities either.

Impartiality means treating everyone equally. All I am getting at is that the policemen toting those rapid-fire guns will tend to look at me with more suspicion than a white brit. This makes me scared...

What do you suggest they do then, not target the people who fit the profile?

I think the Asian community just have to face up to the fact that they are likely to get stopped at airports and such places more often than non Asians, and to be honest, if it stops a plane load of people getting blown up, I wouldnt complain about it to much either.

If the police abuse in anyway, thats a different conversation.

I noticed you said that you `dont think` the police are impartial, which implies you dont actually know. If you were stopped and searched, and the police conducted themsleves correctly, would you have the same opinion?

It works in many ways.
Years ago,white Irishmen were singled out,coz they fitted the profile then.
If the current profile was that middle-aged housewives were going around committing acts of violence,you`d be ignored.
You`d also,I`m guessing,moan about not fitting that profile if you were stopped.
So,damned if they do,damned if they don`t.
I`m sorry to say it,but if a profile is there and you fit it,it really is tough luck.
I could understand your anger if no profile existed and you were being stopped,but that doesn`t appear to be the case.

Have you been stopped and treated badly? If so, you may have a point, if not, I have to ask, what is there to worry about?
