No hand luggage allowed on board, only in hold.

I bet the luggage handlers in Spain etc will be booking new villas in Barbados with all the cameras, laptops etc slipping into they`re greasy little fingers now.

Great, I am due to fly to Oz on 16th, then Greece on 2nd Sept. :(

Not sure how this is going to affect me though. Seemed to imply that it was only for flights between the Uk and the US

Bugger. How am I going to entertain a 1 and Half year old for 9 hours! Going to Florida next Thursday.

I`m in the airfreight business,and we have a passenger department too.
It`s long been an opinion of mine that hand luggage should be banned.
Not only do people take the p***,but the possibility for terrorist action is huge.
One really should accept the cabin is for people only.

Much as I sympathise,it`s tough.
If it`s an essential flight,fair enough,I really do sympathise.
If it`s a holiday flight,one should think twice about taking someone so young on such a long flight.
We`re not planning on taking our little one to Florida until she`s much older,as we are aware of the problems in keeping a young`un entertained for hours.
It`s as much for the other passengers` comfort as ours.

Totally disagree. That would play into the hands of the terrorist.

I want arial pictures & have taken photo`s since my first flight & on longer flights I want my laptop. I`d be buggered if I`m going to give up this because of `British` Muslims.

Due to fly ...with my children...TODAY! :( >:(

I have held this opinion for a long time,not since 11/9.
As I said,I am not only basing my opinion on the terrorism aspect.
I am basing it on the fact that people take the mickey with hand luggage.
Space is at a premium anyway,without massive bags being stuffed into overhead lockers,handbags knocking around your feet and laptops using every inch of seat space.
Then there is the annoyance factor of laptops/i-pods etc.
I don`t want to listen to the "tickatickatickaticka" of a keyboard or the "tsss tsss tsss" of an i-pod.

Airfreight has been subject to massive security measures for years now.
We`ve adapted.

So should passengers.

Flying next Saturday - Hope the security alert is downgraded by then.

12 hour flight (+ departure lounge time) without my Tapwave for music, films & games will be hell. As for the kids without theirs..... :(

As a aside to Bowfers comments about IPods, I can`t stand the ear buds & opt for a full set of closed ear cup studio headphones to minimise audio leakage to others.

I spent a small fortune on external battery packs too for the flights.


I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
