Bloody delivery drivers.
We had a job booked for friday just gone. The TV did not turn up so we were told we would have it tuesday, guess what, it did not turn up. Thats now twice I have had to put our customer off. We were promised it today. After chasing it up we are told the driver could not get outside so he left and they will deliver it another day. The f***ing lazy bastard. If he had just got out of his lorry and walked 30 yards up the road to tell us he was too f***ing bone idol to trolly the pallet up the road, I would have gone down and carried it up. Does not look like I will get it today. Unfortunatly the girl at Pioneer got it as I can see a £2500 refund comming up. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Jobsworth prick,by the sound of it.
Either started that way,or has had his original helpfulness knocked out of him by ungrateful customers, impossible deadlines and traffic wardens.
I`ve had two of them p*** me off too.
One left a package with a distant neighbour, who we hadn`t even bothered speaking to in 3 years because they live at the far end of the street, and another left a package in my daughter`s Wendyhouse, which meant he`d helped himself to opening our clasped side-gate and went round the back of our house.
Neither is excusable,in my book, although both would probably argue they were helping me out.
To be honest,I`d rather I had to collect from their depot than have my neighbours know my business,or have drivers sneaking around the back of my house. >:(

I once saw one lob a package over someone`s fence.. Literally, the bloke got out the van, tried the door once and then punted the box clean over.. Incredible.
The one time I had something delivered to my flat that was too big for the letterbox the postman just shoved one corner in the slot and left the rest hanging out. It`s not as if it was worth £100 or anything, mate!
I like meeting new people, it`s the getting maced that I don`t like...
I seem to remember you having a delivery problem with a Sharpe TV a while ago, whatever, it p***es you off when people who ultimatly get paid by us can`t do there job properly.
I had this very conversation with my dad at the weekend.
He was saying that he met with a big client who complained that the customer service at his depot wasnt up to snuff.
My old man said "Look, i`ll hold my hands up, the customer service is crap and it will almost certainly never get better. Our drivers used to have to do about £150 worth of business to be profitable, now its nearly £300.
We work harder, we work them harder and somethings got to give and unfortunately, its customer service. We are too busy trying to deliver things to pick up the phone or be nice. Its that simple. You are paying a budget price but expect a premium service. The last people who offered you that are out of business, which is why im here. I will offer you a service appropriate to what you are willing to pay, which means you will get a good delivery service, but we might not be too nice about it and, to be honest, if anyone tells you they can do otherwise they are either liars or idiots".
The client was ok about it because my dad was upfront, but he`s right. Margins have been squeezed, drivers are over worked so almost everyone in the freight industry is a c***. Its a fact of life now.
Im not endorsing the fact that delivery drivers are s***, but its one of those symptomatic thatchers children things. Everyone undercut each other so much that they cant afford to give you a good service anymore, especially since, for all our complaining, we arent willing to spend the extra few quid to get it.
What im listening to (if youre interested)
RE: Bloody delivery drivers.
Fair enough Nick, But as he was being paid to deliver it, no mater how little, I expect him to deliver it. Simple as that. Or should I tell my customer that he will get his tv when the delivery man is payed more by his boss. I got hold of his number and he said he could not get up my road. All my other deliverys in 7 1/2 tonners get to me. I offered to go to him and carry it back myself. He was having non of it. Lost my rag and told him to do his job. I would not normally lose my rag but he was deliberatly being beligerant. I now have the TV but I may ring my customer and tell him that as margins have been squeezed over the past couple of years then he can go sing for it.

It`s time delivery drivers realised that by not delivering the goods to you they are ruining your reputation as a reliable business. There are some right lazy bastard/jobworthies around. They know they will get paid whether they deliver the goods or not.

Can you please explain this bit 42er? Not being a business man I do not understand. It seems like you are taking it out on your customer. Please feel free to correct me. And forgive my ignorance.

RE: Bloody delivery drivers.
I was playing with what nick said. As I now make alot less than I used to on plasma should I not still do the right thing by my customer? By nicks delivery man theory I should just turn up when ever as I have to work alot harder to make the same money I used too.
The TV is loaded and I am about to head of to set it up. I was jesting. Mind you, The customer got a bit s***y with me for something that is out of my control.

Don`t you stock the TV?
Dude,
I would write a letter of complaint direct to the delivery mans bosses. Detail his horrendous excuse and how it doesnt stop any others delivering to you and the fact that you even offered to go to the end of the road to get it from him. Also explain that your customer was not happy and that the delivery guys actions have potentially cost you some good favour with that customer. If that doesnt get the guy at least a bollocking then they shouldnt be in business.
Nick - Margins or not, if your job is to deliver something the good service is to get it there. He had driven to the end of the road so thats the travel cost already incurred for his company, the second delivery costs for him being a lazy idiot is then an additional expense - hardly a way to help those margins is it! plus there is the loss in reputation with Bruce and anyone he tells, also not good for making your money.
Good service would have been to take the short walk up the road (not use the phone) and explain the situation and see if between him and Bruce it could be resolved - Which Bruce offered to do and i know would have done - and when you consider for the guy to do that costs nothing maybe that would help make better profits
