Page 1 of Adverts on the telly
General Forum
I`ve sort of hi - jacked a thread which concerned chips in Philips TVs to stop ad skipping but was interested to know when and what anyone has been persuaded to buy just through seeing a TV ad.....
Or do you, like me, use the ad break to put the kettle on, check your emails or take a comfort break?
We all know that what`s advertised on the telly is more expensive in the shops to pay for all of the adverts on the telly, don`t we? :/
Never see them these days. PVRs make it so easy to reclaim your life back from ad breaks. I usually only watch programmes on commercial TV once they have been recorded or cached so I can see an hour long show in 42 minutes or so.
The only thing I`ve been convinced to buy via a telly ad in the last few years was the JMJ CD Aero, and that was only because it sneaked out just beyond my usual music radar and I happened to catch the telly at the right moment.
Bit boring I know, but you asked...

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...
And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...
As Mark says, with PVRs it is so easy to not watch adverts, I would struggle to tell you what the last advert I saw was for, let alone buying something from an advert. Between the PVR and Adblock in firefox, about the only place I see / hear advertising is on the radio, and Capitals current "never more than 2 advers in a row" seems to be always 2 ads in a row, all the blooming time. I am about to give up on radio as well and just listen to mp3s.
