I don`t know why I bother, I got a mushroom soup with me sambo at lunch and it`s the blandest, most tasteless stuff I know... hope it`s veggie or chicken soup tomorrow

Mushrooms themselves are tasty...its just whn someone comes along and turns them into soup that they loose all their flavour :/ ...I think musshroom soup is secretly mushroom wee. ;)

Field mushrroms (I am talking Australia here) are delicious, with lots of flavour.
The plastic stuff in ther supermakets are rubbish.

My main gripe with mushrooms is they smell disgustingly like baby farts when they are cooking

But, yeah, the usual mushroom fare in this country is supposed to be crap. The mrs is a bit of a mushy fan and says that the mushrooms in Italy and Japan are just in a different world. They actually make a worthwhile ingredient, rather than only being good for frying in lard and dumped next to beans, sausages, bacon, tomatoes and a fried slice.
