IS IT POSSIBLE TO DISABLE MACROVISION BY DOING SOMETHING TO MACROVISION IF SO HOW

No. The Macrovision is an intrinsic part of the video signal - it can`t be disabled by cutting a couple of pins on the scart plug (or whatever).

If it was that simple, do you think there would be Macrovision removers on the market? ;-)

There are two ways of removing Macrovision - (1) hack/chip your DVD player, (2) buy an external Macrovision remover.

Go to www.sonel.com for a scart lead that removes macrovision

Have you bought one from these guys?
Does it work?
Are they genuine (their website looks a bit, ..., well crap really)?

Ok...i thought this sounded cool, but it doesnt actually state that it removes the macrovision.

All it says is;-
"This ingenious scart to scart video stabiliser eliminates Flashing Pictures, Colour Drop Out, Brightness Fluctuation and Muted Screen Symptoms."

Anyways, this would be a really good thing if it was true.

Yes it does work - for some bizarre reason there isn`t a picture of one at their site anymore, but there`s some info at my site, Area 450 - try here http://www.area450.co.uk/defeat_macrovision.htm

Rest assured it *is* a Macrovision remover. They`re not actually allowed to say it removes Macrovision - that would be illegal - so they beat around the bush in describing it.

Would you prefer your 3 year old son handling your DVDs, or a backup VHS copy?
