quick E-bay query.

mercury1 (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 24th November 2005, 10:48

Sold a rather expensive item on E-bay (£130). Checked my E-bay today and found that buyer had paid via paypal this morning (big green tick and everything!). However there is no record of any payment to my paypal account nor have i recieved a conformation of an instant payment message to my e-mail.
Obviously i ain`t gonna ship until i see the reddies so to speak but is this normal?have sold a few things lately but never had this before.

cheers.

if you`ve not had payment confirmation from paypal make sure the money has been sent to the correct email addy, also check youre settings/identity in paypal to make sure no-one else has accessed your paypal acount.

E-mail address looks fine, have had contact with buyer before - saturday. Contacted both E-bay and paypal,Looked through my paypal history but no payments in/out that I don`t recognise. How do i check my identity? Only weird thing is (and this is gonna sound really weird) that when I click on the amount of the item next to the buyer`s name in my e-bay ( to check paypal payment) it asks for my paypal password as per normal but after inserting it i am not taken to a payments recieved page with ID number but instead to the paypal login page but where i normally enter my e-mail address in the blank box above password there is already an e-mail address there, and I do not recognise it! If i leave it in and enter my password it says `wrong details`.
Any i being screwed nigeria style?
Really pi**ed off actually., sold lots of stuff recently but this was the biggest monetary wise followed by 5 dvds that i sent recorded that appear to be lost!!
Freakin` sweet - not.

Sounds like your account has been hi-jacked.

Just try the following to see what email address the payment has been sent to:

Goto My Ebay and under `Items I`ve Sold` click the dropdown list next to your sold item and select `View Payment Details` and it should show the email address the PayPal payment went to.

Apologies if I am stating the obvious and you have already done that.
Has the payment definitely gone to the right address?

i don`t think it`s a hijack, thats Assuming you can log into paypal via your normal method ? (ie, a direct link in your favourates) the giveaway is the page you get taken to from the "check payment" option in ebay, it`s taking you to the wrong acount, this happened to the wife once when the payment was sent to an incorrect email addy.

HOWEVER, if you suspect that your ebay/paypal acount is compromised then cancell or freeze any connected credit/debit cards imediately.

if you could post a step by step guide detailing everything you have tried maybe we can help more ?

EDIT= oh, & this is VERY important whenever you log into either paypal or ebay make sure the page is secure, if you can`t see the padlock in the bottom right hand side of the screen then DO NOT enter your password.......

Under items i`ve sold drop down menu bit it gives my correct e-mail address. which incidentally is nothing like the address that appears in my paypal log in.
Haven`t tried much, don`t really know what to do. When I open paypal from favourites it takes me to the log in screen but MY address is already in, the other address only appears when I view payment details from the my e-bay/ items i`ve sold screen.
That`s all i`ve done thus far. Waiting to see what buyer says regarding which account he payed it to, though i can`t see how it could be any different form the one e-bay are saying, i mean the two accounts are completely different right down to the service provider.

can you log into your paypal account & your ebay account

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT don`t wait for the buyer check into your accounts straight away, if you can log in as normal then there is nothing to worry about (apart from getting the initial payment back)

also a link to the item might be helpfull, or a pm if you don`t want to post it publicly

I bought a cd on ebay a few days ago, payment was make straight away but i did not get confirmation for two days,i normally get a mail a few minutes after payment.
This is the first time this has happened to me.
Looks like they are having some problems.
The CD arrived this morning so the seller must have got confirmation.
