Page 1 of Going to Devon. Recommendations?

Going to Devon tomorrow until Friday. Staying near Woolacombe. Any suggestions of nice places to visit? Heard Croyde beach is great and Clovelly is nice.
Any nice places for pub grub :-) ?

Clovelly village is nice, but very dangerous, it`s on an extremely steep hill and the path all the way is very cobbled, meaning you could easily fall if you weren't careful.

I don't recommend taking an old person, but if you do venture down and you don`t fancy walking all the way up. There`s a land rover that will take you up an alternative route back to the car park for £2.00.

Eden Project is excellent, and is well worth the journey.

Croyde is a lovely place, nice village - great beach, nit of a surfing mecca.

If you go there, you must go on the walk to Baggy Point, looking out to sea it`s off to the right and is stunning. It`s not long or hard going either.


why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

we`ve been to a place called lea bay also know as fuschia valley/village .... man ...a little slice of paradise ... its a small cove that`s perfect to laze around in with the kids , you haven`t got to have eyes at the back of your heads on this little beach as its quite tricky to get too and theirs hardly anyone there.The beach it`s self is stony and the sea is very calm .


Directions , drive down the one track road until you reach the bottom , there`s a pub and a public car park , you`ll see a small kinda beach (a bit sea weedy if my memory severs me right ) as you stand say with the pub at your back you walk across the beach to the other side toward some rocks , they`ll be some natural steps that take you over/through the rocks until you come to paradi

Last time I was there we had a 2 year old with us so we carried him but tbh it`s worth trek it`s not far just a tad tricky .


Personally Ilfracombe/woolacombe are to packed if you like a bit of space give it try !

Word of warning , there`s not much there , toilets, pub which sells food and there`s a little tea room which you will pass going down the hill to the beach on the way in , also the tide will cut you off if you stay to long but there`s steps that you can climb to get back .

Lynmouth is well worth a visit - my favourite place on the North Devon coast - a beautiful little village famous for getting swept away in floods in the 50s.
Walk along the river to Watersmeet- lovely little National Trust house where you can get a nice cuppa and a sticky bun.
