Clarification of Distance Selling Regulations...
My mum has just bought a printer (colour LaserJet) on behalf of her work from PCWorld - online.
Basically it`s arrived, she`s unboxed it and installed it. She still has all the boxes - it only came yesterday. It works perfectly BUT it doesn`t work with her finance package - SAGE. Don`t know the reason - she said it was to do with the version of SAGE and PCL. She called PCWorld to see if she could send it back but they said "Tough, you`ve opened it".
I said that as far as I was aware, even though the item is perfect, under the DSR`s she can still claim a full refund and return the printer (maybe have to pay postage). Are they fobbing her off and if so what should she do?
So, can she return it?

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

I thought the law was you were only entitled to send it back if it was unopened (I.e re-sellable).
I`ll try and get the page from google.

Just tell them it will not work. They then have to refund the money.

They then have to refund the money.
i wouldn`t go down that route, it`s more likely they will test it & if they find it to be ok they will want more money from you before they return it.

PC Worlds RefundsReturnsPolicy
Quote:
Your product must be complete, unused and in `as new` condition (e.g. if you have opened the box to examine the product you must have done so without damaging or marking the product in any). It should be returned with the original box, packing and accessories. Pre-recorded videotapes, DVDs, CDs, minidiscs and other software must be sealed. Any `Free Gifts` received with the product must also be returned
Long shot, what if you try returning it to a store, saying you opened it and it wasn`t suitable?. Personally I don`t like PC World because they`re not very friendly on refunds of any type and will do/say anything to put you off. You can but try!
Good Luck. Niteowl

I dont think distance selling regs dont apply to businesses buying goods.
It does not sound like its fit for the purpose and you should be able to return it for that.
