Some pretty impressive pictures here as they assemble the kit for launch (for those that like that sorth of thing).
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

Don`t worry, i`m sure as they are counting down some asylum seekers will pop up and slam a filthy rag on the windscreen and then demand some money from the pilots ;)
When will Stelios have one of these beauties in his fleet then? ;)
That is a massive undertaking and the pictures are pretty impressive; it must cost a fortune and it is no wonder that NASA needed extra funding from the government after the Columbia tragedy.

Always wonderd how they put it together, lets hope this one comes back safely . :(
I was lucky enough to witness the launch of The Endeavour back in 2000, which was an incredible experience. My daughter, who was five at the time, still talks about it to this day...unforgettable.
It was a beautiful, clear night, and the way the shuttle lit ip the night sky was phenomenal. We spent the day at Coco Beach and then headed-up the coast where hundreds of people park-up at the side of the roads. People had monitors, radios, barbeques etc set up. We went and bought beer & spent the night talking to locals, holiday-makers etc, all in anticipation of the launch.
Of course I remember the launch, but the atmosphere among everyone was fantastic. There were people from all over America, people from all over the world, & everyone was having such a good time.
If anyone ever gets the chance to witness a launch, don`t pass it up...it`s something I`ll never forget. Standing there at the side of the road, beer in hand, listening to that countdown...damn, it still sends shivers down the old spine.

Yes its a great sight we have seen it twice but our best experience was when we were flying from orlando to boston and the pilot said if you look out of the window you can see the space shuttle flying along, it was amazing as i thought the shuttle went straight up !
Luky sods! best I can do is a £3.00 exploding rocket on bonfire night! :) :)
They do say that the shuttle night time launhes are the best to see.
