Nottingham Forest have accepted an £8million offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Andy Reid and Michael Dawson.

Republic of Ireland international Reid and former England Under 21 captain Dawson have travelled to North London to discuss personal terms and undergo medicals with a view to completing their moves to White Hart Lane before the transfer window closes at midnight.

Forest`s Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: We have reached an agreement with Tottenham with regard to the sales of Andy Reid and Michael Dawson and we expect the transfers to be completed later today.

"Both players are understandably ambitious young men and are keen to play in the Premiership as soon as possible.This represents a great opportunity for both of them and as a Club, we felt we could not stand in their way."

Reid and Dawson are both graduates of Forest`s highly-rated Academy system and Mr. Arthur added: "The contributions of Andy and Michael to Nottingham Forest in recent years has been immense. They have been with us since they were schoolboys and have developed into two of the finest young players in the country. We will watch their progress in the Premiership with both a great deal of interest and pride.I would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for their efforts and wish them the very best of luck for the future."

Good players, but I`m not too sure it`s £8 mills worth. Anyway good luck to Forest, look forward to you getting back to the big time, hope the dough will be spent well and help you climb to safety.

I reckon £8m is over-generous, however Reid is an electrifying player, and has virtually been a one-man Forest team this season. Dawson is the best young defender in England - he will go on to great things with England, believe me....

I`ll miss the local Derbies!

Tbh, its always sad when you see a team having to sell the only hope they have of staying in the division to pay the bills.

I`ll tell you what, Werepig Redknapp can stop carping on about having the hardest game in footy. Megson must be about ready to shoot himself........

If the £8mill goes into the transfer kiitty thats good - remember, Champiobship sides have no transfer windo (for this season at least)

If the money gooes into paying off debts/chairman`s pocket/etc then wave bye bye to The Championship.

Look on the bright side. At least your getting 8m for them. Look at all the clubs that have had to off-load their big earners for next to nothing to cut down the wage bill.....Sheff Wed and Leeds spring to mind!!

Di Canio and Carbone, bought for a few million and sold for feck all.....Shefqi Kuqi..given away to Ipswich. This is the sad state of affairs in football today. :(

Its not £8 million straight. Its based on appearances, our league position etc as well. I think you are guaranteed £4 million, and you also have a 10% of whatever we sell them both on for too.

Clayts, how do you rate both of these players? Alot of Spurs fans are questioning why we`ve bought Dawson, especially having also signed Davenport. I really rate Reid, but would like to hear a Forrest fans point of view?
