Picture "bending" on widescreen TV`s

SheepDip (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 19th May 2001, 22:30

I`m thinking at last of investing in widescreen. Apologies if this question has been asked before but -
I`ve noticed on some widescreen TV`s that the picture bends a bit at the edges (Most noticible on 4:3 mode) ie - the black bars aren`t straight.
Is this something which can simply be corrected by an engineer visit (Or service menu), or is it a case of "tough - it`s part of the spec"
Thanks in advance

Dont know the answer BUT..
I`ve never used 4:3 on my widescreen; so if the problem is only apparent on 4:3 then I wouldnt worry about it. chill out, test it then buy one!

this can just be a video "thing" that you have to live with

the higher the intensity along any particular line the longer that line of video becomes (the greater divergence) - hence if you look at a screen where the top half is dark and the bottom bright then the bottom half should spread slightly wider than the top

and vice versa

it just happens, but is usually pretty slight - if it gets annoying or ALWAYS leans one way then i`d complain :0
