Fiat Punto 53 Plate One problem after another. Anybody else?

bargainhunter (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 9th January 2005, 14:24

I can`t beleive how rubbish my Fiat Punto has turned out to be.

It only has 3000 miles on the clock yet I keep having to take it back to be repaired, luckily my warranty hasn`t run out yet but If I still have the car when the warranty runs out I`ll be stuffed!

Problems so far:

Back window dropped out, passenger door completely jamned and needed re-allignment, Bonnet un-openable, Central locking screwed- wiring completely corroded!, Paint work blistering on and on and on!

Has anyone else found this car to be complete bar-stewards?

NEVER BUY FIAT unless you want to buy mine from me ? ;)

Well i could tell you some more horror stories about Fiat/Alfa Romeo... how new cars have infact been sat around more than twelve months in all the the elements before being registered... so corrosion and problems would be no surprise to me! And thats before they get to the dealer and sit on his forecourt!

My neighbour has a 03 Punto petrol, but sounds like diesel, sounds like the whole engine is about to fall to pieces.

A friend at work used to have a Fiat Brava or was it Bravo? anyway he soon got rid of it and said it was worst car he ever had, bits fell of it nearly everyday!

FIAT = Fix It Again Tony!

Might be worth taking it to an accident repair co as your problems sound like they are collision related. I.e. Were you sold a car that had been dropped? The accident repair co should not charge you just for a check but they may charge for an engineers report.

So it is all bad news! :(

My first brand new car and its worse than my old R reg car.
Every couple of months I have to take it back.

I just hope that somebody who might be thinking of buying a fiat reads this forum and reconsiders!

Pay the extra buy a ford, you will save money in the long run.

I`ve never heard such rubbish in my life. I`ve had several Fiats (have a Brava even now) & have never had any trouble with any of them. The Brava we bought nearly 5 years ago with 11,000 miles on the clock & was 6 months old. Extremely reliable. I have had loads of cars & am a big fan of the Japanese cars but the only one`s I`ve had for unreliability are Fords & also one brand new Vauxhall. I`m sure you`ll find a lemon with any make.

When I bought my car last April it only had 8 miles on the clock so It hasn`t been in any accidents.

I know the cars are cheap but they should be even cheaper as they are so crap.

Now I will have to take an even bigger loan to buy another car, more hassle!
