Question for Leicester Drivers
Hey All!
I have a question for all the people who live in Leicester. I was driving past the LRI 2 days ago when I saw a car that had been stopped in the bus lane by the police. There is nothing unusal in that expect it was an unmarked police unit. The car was a blue Skoda Octavia RS with the flashing blue lights and "police stop" strip concealed in the back window as well as blue lights concealed behind the front grille.
I was aware that the Leicesterhire Constabulary has bought up lots of Skoda Octavia RS models (white) for marked patrol cars (i wanted to get one at one point). I know in the past that I have seen unmarked units which were Subaru Imprezas, BMW 3 and 5 series etc etc.
I was wondering if anyone else has noted these unmarked units?
Merry Christmas!

In that case...you`re better off sending a letter to the `Leicester Mercury` then.
And a Merry Christmas to you too. ;)
RE: Question for Leicester Drivers
I have seen a green one round Leicester.
All the best,
The 42%er.
It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....
I have a huge problem with unmarked cars for general traffic use.
The police should be as much about prevention as cure.
Unmarked cars are all about sneaky/stealth entrapment where a marked car will actually prevent any `crime` in the first place.
Think about it.
An unmarked car might catch one nutter, but a marked car in the same area will not only prevent said nutter but hundreds of others as well.
I always tell the wife never ever to stop for a car that isn`t obviously a police car,no matter how many `hidden` lights it has (which could probably be bought off e-bay,no doubt).
The thought of her pulling over on some unlit back road to any old car fitted with flashing lights in the grill scares the hell out of me.
Just as police officers have to wear a uniform for general policing, then so should their cars be marked in the usual white/reflective stripes garb.
Obviously, unmarked cars are required in certain circumstances, such as special ops,but not general traffic use,the complete c***s.
