i have recently recieved a dvd player from Brands with the upgraded firmware version, because i was having problems playing certain dvds. the new dvd player that brands sent me now, seems to freeze whenever i play any dvds, i was just wondering if anyone else had similar problems with there player.

Nav, I`ve noticed that too, when trying to select scenes, never used to happen. I`m going to try the Toy Story disk tonight and if it still doesn`t work then a phone call to Brands is in order.

I was initially impressed with LG and Brands but it`s making me worried now !

Just a theory but someone did mention that in order to chnage the chip on an LG 3200 you have to take the drive out and replace it, I`m wondering if this is what they did as my drive is more noisy than before.

Take a look at the "Inside the 370" pictures on my site Vern.

The disc transport does NOT need to be disturbed for a firmware upgrade, unless a different transport is being fitted.

There are two ways to flash the chip:

1) Connect a Jig board to a PC and to the relevant connector(s) on the LG board, and run the software program

2) Remove the ATMEL chip from the underside of the Mpeg decoder board and use an ATMEL programmer.

(option 2 requires the decoder board to be removed, but the disc transport only requires disconnection, not removal)
