Page 1 of what would happen if you didnt pay your customs bill?????

just wondering as me and my brother both got stung by customs last november (didnt know the whole £18 thing then) when ordering from express.com. i paid my fee but our kid hasnt bothered to send his off.
he hasnt heard anything since.....

Have you heard from him since? :D

Maybe the customs people cut his nuts off and fed them to him as a warning?

How have you been "stung", exactly?

Normally what happens is that if you don`t pay, you don`t get your package delivered (the postman/courier asks you to pay on delivery).

Sometimes you get lucky and Customs overlook the parcel, or the postman forgets to collect the duty but delivers the parcel anyway (in which case you`re "off the hook" so to speak). Is that what happened in your case?

The honest thing to do is write a cheque for the duty amount and send it off, but much like being given too much change in a shop, it`s entirely down to your conscience.

what happened was a couple of weeks after our parcels were delivered we got a card through the post from fed-ex saying they wanted x amount of money for customs etc. i sent a cheque off, but our kid never bothered.

Seems a funny way to do things - very trusting of them, I must say!

If they really, really want the money they`ll almost certainly send another letter, so I`d just wait and see what happens.

FedEx alway pay the fees as it is part of the deal to get the packages through as fast track. If you don`t pay the fee you will in due course receive a letter from a debt collection agency chasing for the money, and yes they will even for as little as £8 !!
