Page 1 of WTF? Reviewer browser Hi-Jack?
General Forum
Twice in the last 10 minutes a toolbar has installed itself onto my IE and dumped loads of spam websites into my favourites bar. Its only happened when im on this site!! Ive looked at my system processes, nothing and my firewalls completely locked.
and sets my homepage to http://sbokvdihcs.us/Ac8YpEikPeUtrF/gVhSg9tOQLlJUJUqO3L02lL6dIbc.html
Im posting this in the main forum as I want as many people to see it as possible in the hopes of proving me wrong. In the meantime its another sys restore to confirm.
Im sure there is a perfectly innocent explanation, but im damned if i can think of it!!

RE: WTF? Reviewer browser Hi-Jack?
do you use a pop up stopper ? i use service pack 2 & never get any probs, either with pop-up`s or "phantom installs" tho SP2 does warn me when they try, if it`s recuring try cw shredder (i can email if you want)
EDIT= i`ve sent cw shredder, it`s only tiny, so it should be there in a sec :)
EDITX2= i just got mail delivery failure from you`re hotmail addy :( odd, cos i zipped the file :/ it shoulda gone through ok.

RE: WTF? Reviewer browser Hi-Jack?
whilst I was browsing dvd reviwer last night at about 23.30 a virus installed onto my pc & dowloaded some files to my desktop. I had AVG installed and it picked up the virus dowloading
RE: WTF? Reviewer browser Hi-Jack?
Thomas, I would very much like to know what virus supposedly downloaded itself onto your computer as a direct result of browsing this website.
I`d also like to know from nick what advert resulted in this issue as well.

You guys have started using AVENUE A, or at least thats what Spybot keeps blocking every time I load a page here.
I don`t even know if Avenue A is a serious threat but it`s damn annoying.
Something to do with your banners maybe?
Axel
Avenue A is just a cookie used by the advertising software that displays banners to track who it has shown what to. Block it by all means, but please don`t confuse it with a virus or anything remotely similar. :)

TBH, when the new bar appeared and i saw 5 new shortcuts on my desktop and 6 new folders of links in my favourites, the advert that popped up didnt really get a look in. But it set my homepage to the one in my first post if thats any help.
It happened twice in the space of about 15 minutes. The second time i had cleared out all internet files and reviewer was the only site i had visited.

Trouble is, with browser hijackers, it really doesn`t matter where you go after visiting the site that caused the problem. It is the act of loading IE that re-executes the browser hijacker.
And as far as I know, we are not carrying any such advertisement that would do the above, and if we were we`d get it killed as soon as we found out.
Plus the url it goes to is for a non-existant domain anyway.
