Danny Williams v Vitali Klitschko?

David Beckett (Reviewer) posted this on Saturday, 28th August 2004, 10:31

BBC Radio has reported that Danny Williams will challenge WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in the US in December. Seems he has been given just reward for bursting onto the world scene by demolishing Tyson. I hope that this is not just a rumour and the fight actually happens; Klitschko is a far better opponent for Williams than Oleg Maskaev.

Klitschko is the best heavyweight fighter in the world at the moment, lets hope it happens, it would be a great fight!

Klitschko was open to the left hand rushes of Corrie Sanders and his body is open to attack. If Williams can perform as he did against Tyson he may pull off a shock - call me a cynic but I will believe the fight is on when I see the two men standing in opposite corners!

Williams was interviewed about this but did not know anything about it but would fight him. It`s between williams or monte Barrett who klitschko will fight next.Williams fight with Maskaev is off though.Maskaev is far to dangerous for williams for a warm up bout.

Maskaev is a stupid fight for Williams to take as is a lose/lose bout for him. If he wins, people will say `he should have won against a chinny banger who has been exposed at the higher level` whereas if he loses, people will say `what is he doing losing against a chinny banger who has been exposed at the higher level`!

True but with the Hatton and Cotto fights, I think this is a card worth buying especially when you consider the price they charge for a PPV soccer game.

Suppose, but I`m not really a huge boxing fan, so I can`t really justify paying an extra £15.

Does really p*** me off the way you have to pay £40 a month for Sky then they expect you to shell out every time there`s a semi-decent boxer on. Probably half the reason I`m not into it that much is because I rarely watch any of the big fights anymore :(
