spot on, you missed some though:
1. Intermissions AFTER the adverts and before the FEATURE.
This is the most annoying thing in the whole damn world! - get into the place on time, settle down, eat you crisps and drink your juice that you brought in from elsewhere and there`s a 10 minute break, lights come on etc.
2. Seating
I went to the recently refurbished cinema in Perth and paid for luxury seats. Imagine my suprise when we were behind a parapet with NO legroom, less in fact than the standard seats!
3. Ice Cream.
How much for Hagen Das?
RE: Mike`s Cinema Rant!
Those so called `luxury` seats are pretty much the ultimate misnomer. Indeed, if you`re watching a particularly loud movie, the experiance is not unlike an airline decompression at 40,000 feet... in economy.
And the Haagan Daz? I`ve run out of the snack stand kicking and screaming long before I get that far.

You also forgot the idiot who has to have the plot explained to him throughout the entire film by his/her partner who doesn`t understand what whisper means.
And once I even sat three seats away from these two foreign gentlemen, one of which couldn`t speak english so the other translated. Once again, a nice deep voice that doesn`t understand what whisper means.
When I went to see Sleepers there were these dozey teenage girls behind us who just kepts saying, "oh my god, oh no" all throughout the film.
Oh we could go on and on... heh
RE: Mike`s Cinema Rant!
No no and thrice noooooo!!!!
Yes all of these things are annoying, but what about the good side???
The atmosphere, socialbility of a night out with friends, the biiiiig screen, excessively loud speakers, banged grains of corn and all the rest of it. It`s the complete cinema experience, and I like it.
Note cinema, not movie experience! =)
Long live the multiplex!!

RE: Mike`s Cinema Rant!
Well, thats the cinema, a different experiance from the experiance of a multiplex.

Popcorn is nice yes, a night out with friends is also good.
Big screen isnt that big anymore, certainly not when you have a 6ft one at home.
As for speakers, I`ve recently become permanently dissapointed with every film Ive seen at my local UCI. Bass is s***e and my system at home definitely sounds better.
RE: Mike`s Cinema Rant!
We don`t all have a 6ft screen in our front rooms though =)
The problem with this is, each cinema/multi-plex you go to has different hardware. Maybe I`m just lucky in that my local movie house is excellent.
