You have a cube made up of smaller cubes with a dimension of 10 X 10 X 10 (ie 1000 cubes). You are asked to strip the outer layer of ubes so that all cubes on the outside layer are removed - how many cubes remain? :D
8*8*8 = 512, unless it`s a trick question.
It`s probably a trick question...

Agree with Jitendar..
Stripping the outer layer you would take off..
2 layers 10x10
2 layers 10x8
2 layers 8x8
1000-200-160-128=512

Are we talking cubes or smaller cubes, that is the question.
As the question says Quote:
how many cubes remain?, then I guess the (trick) answer is indeed 1.
Sam. :/

I`m going to go with 1000 cubes remaining..........
( as there are no `ubes` around the cubes ?!?! )
.............What do you mean it was`nt a trick question ?!?

Nope, I`ve looked pretty much everywhere and I definitely don`t have anything like that, I think you must be mistaken.
Just out of interest, where did the rest of you find your cubes?

There are several possible answers:
None - you have continued to "strip the outside layer" until there is nothing of the cube left
One - The centre on the cube you have stripped is classed as a cube itself
1000 - You still have all the cubes that you have stripped
Is this a braintreaser or a question off a maths paper?
