Wagtmans, CJ (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 27th March 2001, 11:08

Hello,

I have a room wicht is 6.90 Meter by 4.25 Meter.
I`m planning to install the speakers in all of the corners.

Is this wise, or should I install them different part of the room.

I have a Pioneer NS DV55 system.

I`dont know whar I could do best.

Excuse me for me poor writing skills in English (I`m Dutch)

Hi there CJ.

You might want to try looking here : excellent stuff :

http://www.dolby.com/ht/sound/sound3.html

and I `think` Dolby know what they`re on about !!!

I`d recommend everyone with a full home-cinema kit having a look at this - I found the stuff about rear speaker placement very interesting, and I`m still experimenting !!

I`m fairly sure this rear speaker set up is for Prologic, not Dolby Digital. My Digitheatre handbook recommends this sideways placement for Dolby Prologic but for Dolby Digital recommends placing them behind and pointing inwards at the listener, and preferably as far behind the listener as the fronts are in front (not very practical unless your sofa is in the middle of the room). Clearly you`re not going to want to switch around everytime you switch from one source to the other, so I`d recommend setting them up for the better source, ie not prologic! :-) so in the back corners, with the sofa as far forward as is sensible. Best thing, try both and see which you like best.
