Samsung 709 Multi-region question - will it play Charlies Angels?
Hi, I`ve got a Samsung which has been sucessfully hacked to be multi-region, so far I have not come across any problem discs but......I now hear that they have put a better encription device in some DVD`s (Charlies Angels to name but one), will my hacked player still be able to play it.
Please help

Hi Jonpeat
I`ve got a Sammy 709 with a V3.28 firmware (if you don`t know your firmware, you`ll need to remove the lid of your 709 (DISCONNECT IT FROM THE MAINS FIRST !!!!!) and look for a small chip with a label on it in the back right hand side of the unit). My 709 was hacked using the Double Cold Start hack and plays RCE disks like Charlies Angels without having to manually set the region code to R1. R2 disks shouldn`t be a problem as they aren`t RCE coded.

NB the main site also has links to another FAQ with a black background which is less informative than the link above.

Indeed - the 709 has no problems with RCE discs. Use the new handset hack (http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/thomson3300.asp) and you`ll be fine.
