C`MON PEOPLE I NEED YOUR HELP!
JUST A BIGINNER HERE, BUT WHY DO U WANT TO GET RID OF THE MACROVISION ON THE PLAYER?
NEED INFO
NEED TO GET TO GRIPS WITH DVD.
Macrovision is a copyright protection device in most dvd`s. they are encoded with it so that if you try and run the dvd player through your video recorder to tape the dvd to tape then it messes the picture up!
This also affects people with tv/video combi`s so the dvd player cannot be run on the tv!
also i think it must have a slight effect on the overall picture quaility as the macrovision signal is still going to the tv which the picture is displayed on!
MACROVISION SUCKS AND SHOULD BE SWITCHED OFF!
WE DONT NEED IT. IT RESTRICTS OUR VIEWING PLEASURE!
ASK ANYONE AND THELL AGREE!
BYE!
can i add the jmb 3000 to that list need a hack urgent
cheers

Most of those players listed are clones of Oritron players.
Oritron have confirmed that a macrovision disable menu exists but they won`t say how to get in to it.
Yeah i know someone who has been in touch!
Cmon Oritron please!
>"also i think it must have a slight effect on the overall picture quaility as the macrovision signal is still going to the tv which the picture is displayed on!"
Nope, it has no effect on most TV`s because Macro actually fools the AGC circuit of the VCR into thinking the gain needs rectified to provide a correct picture.
Most TV sets either don`t have this circuit, or aren`t sensitive enough to recognise it.
The exceptuion is people with CRT or Projection sets, which in a number of cases, affect the picture by recognising the macro signal.
>"WE DONT NEED IT. IT RESTRICTS OUR VIEWING PLEASURE!"
Actually, it doesn`t restrict your viewing pleasure unless you are one of the minority with CRT/Projection TV.
It actually stops anyone making PIRATED copies of movies, which end up costing us all, as it drives the price of the genuine article still higher.
(although I do think DVD prices need to drop...SEVERELY!)
Most who will agree macro should be scrapped are those trying to make a quick buck from selling dodgy copies of DVD`s they have purchased etc.
I, on the other hand, suffer because I have a lack of scart sockets on my TV, and have to use a VCR to route the signal. This means, turn the VCR on, and in comes our old pal Macrovision!! :o(
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
