Early contender for album of 2004.........

cfgte3 (Elite) posted this on Monday, 9th February 2004, 20:16

Franz Ferdinand`s eponymous debut came out today. Anyone here heard it yet? I waited for this to come out for ages and it hasn`t disappointed. Stand out tracks for me based on two listenings are Take Me Out (of course), Darts Of Pleasure, Tell Her Tonight and The Dark Of The Matinee.

Great album, I recommend giving it a shot.

Did it only come out today? I downloaded it last week (yes I know, naughty naughty, but I can`t afford the album at the mo) and have to agree its definitely one of the best albums I`ve heard for a while.

Nowt wrong with downloading Ben. In fact, if I didn`t download stuff I wouldn`t buy half as much music as I do.

Oh that`s okay then, it`s just that half the time you post something about downloading someone tells you that its wrong etc. :D

Album downloading is basically just "previewing" music really isn`t it? Any other albums you recommend Rich? 8)

Obviously the best album is `Free me` released today by Emma Bunton :D :D :D :D

Depends what you like really.

Of the recent stuff I`m listening to at the moment (not neccesarily brand new):

Final Straw by Snow Patrol is pretty good, Vehicles and Animals by Athlete is quality and I still really like the Kings Of Leon album from last year, have you heard that and what did you reckon?

Most of the stuff I listen to is older stuff really especially The Beatles, The Who, Small Faces, The Jam etc

I`m glad theres people on here who want to talk about music :D

Try Effloresce, the debut album from Oceansize - released, I think in September last year. A bloody splendid album, that hasn`t been away from my ears since Chrimbo!

Yeah I`ve got all of the above albums Rich. I think Vehicles and Animals is a great album, as is Kings of Leon`s album. Started listening to Snow Patrol today but had to turn it off, but so far so good.

Probably not your type of thing (but it may be) but the new Air album is really good. And I`m liking what I`ve heard from "Keane" at the moment. Can`t wait to hear their debut album.

Downloading Oceansize`s album now Skuzzlobber. :D

(In no particular order) Keane, Kings of Leon, Razorlight, Stellastar, Brand New, Snow Patrol, Serafin, Hundred Reasons, Jerry Built, Von Bondies, Simple Kid..there`s loads of good newish stuff coming through. Lost Prophets new album looks promising.

Not so sure about Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out took a while to grow on me...heard Matinee and a few other tracks over the weekend and wasn`t so impressed; seem to be trying a bit too hard to be an upbeat Belle and Sebastian.

Interested in hearing the Air album - seems to have taken a slagging in the music press, but I`ve always liked Air regardless.

Can`t believe you just mentioned Air and Keane, Ben! A mate at work mentioned those a week or so back. I`ve heard some of Air`s album and it sounds pretty good. Been meaning to check both those out, I`ll have to download next chance I get. Usually when this guy recommends something to me I tend to like it.

Have you heard `It Still Moves` by My Mourning Jacket? I tried it very recently, its a nice little album. Worth a pop if you ain`t already.
