***Latest Mobile Scam***

Had a call the other day from some pathetic scammers

Claimed to be from Egg credit card company, a woman asked for me by my name and asked for me to acknowledge my address so they obviously have a list of details.

The woman said I had a card which I do not, with an outstanding balance of £759.00 was pushing for some personal banking details to which I hung up.

The pathetic thing was that there was a lot of pauses, and I could even hear a TV and somebody prompting this woman when she was `losing` me.

Anyway, just letting people know incase they phone you.

E-mailed Vodafone (they phoned my mobile - which was what I first thought was dodgy because I wouldn`t use that number on any forms) and Egg and they`ve said it is a police matter, so I`ve got to phone them before either can take any action.

Hope you do let the police know, did your mobile track the number they called from?

I got hold of Vodafone and Egg who both stated it was a police matter which they could only be involved with through me contacting the police who would then be in touch with them.

Vodafone have the number who called, but can`t do anything until police ask them for it. I haven`t had time yet. I must say that i`m a bit worried (or should I say, unkowledgable) about how I would be involved if any criminal conviction is made. Would I be required to travel to a court of law to provide evidence or would a written statement be acceptable. Also the fact that these fraudsters already had my name and address, so if they are part of a crime ring, could i end up getting into more bother than it`s worth?

At the end of the day, I suppose people like this will always get away with it if nobody complains about them, but I`d like an idea of what I`m getting myself into!

It`s the people that would fall for this kind of scam that I feel sorry for.
