possibly....but I made a comment to a female colleague of mine a couple of days ago, saying `I`m a good girl, I am` in a screechy cockney-style accent re: Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady, poking gentle fun. Ok, it`s probable that not everyone over 27 has seen that film, and I accept that..but I made the mistake of saying where it was from, and mentioned George Bernard Shaw..and herself, and my male colleague (27) said `Who?`...and they were serious.
The male colleague was also the one who went all blank when I read out the news that one of the last surviving ANZAC fighters who had fought at Gallipoli had died (if not THE last)..and again, the comment was..`What`s Gallipoli?`.
So...is it me being too dull in expecting people to have at least heard about these people / historical events? (especially after almost 30 years of existence)..or is it just...something else perhaps. I don`t know. Perhaps I`m getting old, and I`m not yet 40 myself.

Alan.. i know exactly how you feel...
my address has the word Chaucer in it.. when anyone asks how to spell it.. i say.. "as in Geoffery Chaucer".. to which the reply is complete silence.. and the occasional "who, sorry?".. i just take it for granted that people went to school..
I`m 23 and working on a government project and last week this ANZAC came up in a document I was reviewing dealing with people who have lived abroad at some point in their life. (Something to do with Pensions)
Could someone tell me what it stands for as I thought it was Australian/NewZealandAndCanadian...
Cheers
