12v Coolbox - Where to get a good deal?

Braindead (Competent) posted this on Friday, 16th January 2004, 18:28

Hi,

I`m after a coolbox that runs off a 12V cigar lighter socket in the car.

Want a full size one to take several 2L bottles.

Typical price around £60 - anyone know any good deals going (apart from ebay)

Summer is coming....hopefully.

I saw some in Big W a while ago, I don`t think they were anything like £60. You could see if they still have any if you have one locally.

Have a shufti at Halfords, it`s where we got ours. Can`t remember how much though. However, you might have trouble locating this item, seeing as it`s mid winter.

Hi,

The one to go for is the Micromark Micro Cooler, which retailers c.£40!

It`ll hold several 2l bottles or 20+ cans of Coke.

Try your local store for one.

Last time I was in Woolies, they still had a few mini fridges. Some of them run on 12V.

I bought 3 own brand ones at halfords a while back for £90 , they were £90 originally but marked up at half price and also in a buy 2 get 1 free section - ( I kept one and gave the others as birthday presents later in the year ) but would have been good value at the full price as they are roomy , well made and quite strong but light enough to carry and also has the function of keeping food warm , I know they will not have these now but the ones they do have will be newer and better and will be worth checking the price out.

The one I bought last summer, was from my local camping store. Made by `Camping Gaz` at £60. It has a warm facility by reversing the connecting cable, but more importantly, a feature built in to automatically switch off the unit if it senses the car battery running too low.

I looked at the various alternatives in Woolies and found them cheap/nasty, and the ones in Halfords were over-priced.

Sorry! Price should have read c.£60!

They`re available through independent retailers.
