Please Help

I am new to this DVD lark and I got a couple of questions I`d like to be answered. I own a Limit JDV300a, yes another Richer Sounds disciple! I think its a cool player and I am quite aware that it sells under a few different names ie. Medion 7950a.

1) In the threads I see people talking about Macrovision. What is this and whats the difference between enabling it and disabling it?

2) Are there any reviews around about the Limit JDV300a?

Cheers

Neil

macrovision is a type of video coding which cause the video to distort colours and contrast when played into another device , such as a vcr.
If you connect the dvd player to the vcr to the tv the picture is all screwed up. if macrovision is disabled you can record dvds perfectly.

Richersounds kick ass
apart from i have now had 4 faulty dvd players from there.

i have found a hack which might interest you(it lets you watch dvds from other countries)

Switch the player on at the base unit
Open the drawer and leave open
Using the remote, type in 8926 than the required region code (1 for region 1, 2 for region 2 etc.)
Close the drawer with the required DVD in
Press play

You could also try entering 9 as the region - this will put the machine in to region free mode allowing you to insert any regions DVD without changing the code again. You should also find that the player will remember the hack has been entered even if you turn the player off and on again

Unfortunately I can`t answer your queries other than to say I cannot find any reviews of the player anywhere either. I`m very pleased with mine, other than one small problem which I wonder if you might help me with?

I have the player, which I bought from Richer sounds just before Christmas, but I got it cheap as it didn`t have any instructions! I thought I`d have no problem finding the manufacturer on the web and I`d be able to get an instruction manual with no trouble. Alas, I can`t find anything out about Limit!

Is there any chance you could lend me your instruction booklet for a couple of days? I guarantee to return it along with a new drinking voucher page inserted! I`ve just started playing around with putting my own images on CD in VCD format and I think I`m missing out on some of the features that are slightly more obscure than the normal `play a DVD` ones.

I realise this is a bit cheeky, but I`d be grateful for any help.

all the best

Rod

Or just scan it and send it to him!!

Anyways: Macrovision!!

It`s a copy protection system encoded on DVD discs and on VHS videos to prevent Piracy.

Nothing wrong with that you might think.

However, the Macro signal on DVD is so strong, it interferes with certain type of projection and CRT TV screens, so it make some people unable to biew their beloved movies.

Disabling macro 1) Allows those above to view their movies.
2) Allows recording to VHS.

Whilst I have no disagreement with making a back up copy to watch in the event your player is knacked/in another room, I do not condone Piracy in any way!!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Rod,

If you want a copy of the instruction manual mail me at 63sdoowbob[at].moc.lliamtoh I think scanning it would cause massive files but I could post it or scan it to you.

Bob.
