PC World - how easy to get a refund?
I bought a camera from PC World in their new years sale, and quite frankly the pictures were awful!! There just doesn`t seem to be enough detail in them when compared to another 3 million pixel camera. I mean, I`m no expert, but they don`t seem good to me.
What I want to know is, how likely am I to get a refund from them for the camera? I`ve had it about 2 weeks now, and obviously have used it, though not excessively. Are they likely to just hand it over, or will they be really awkward about it? Its a 15 mile trip each way to PC World, so I`d like to know my chances before I go!! Also, is it better to ring first, or just turn up and argue? :D

Oh bloody hell. The Dixons group (of which PC World are part) are known to be awkward about refunds even for faulty gear! I hate to be pessimistic, but I`d say your chances of getting your money back because you "changed your mind/didn`t like it all that much" are somewhere between nil and bugger all.
Do phone first. You might be lucky and catch the manager on a good day. I suspect, though, that you`ll have to put it down to experience - maybe flog it on Ebay or something - and buy your digital cameras from Argos or Index in future. :(

They might give you vouchers to spend on something else. Just be glad it`s not software..... I tried to return a copy of Windows XP Pro and they basically accused me of copying it and trying to get a refund, even though it was well within the warranty period. >:( >:(
Expect the worst and you won`t be disappointed!

I thought I might have trouble, better to be prepared!! Its one of their own model Kodaks, claiming to be a 3 million pixel, so I thought I couldn`t go wrong. However, I can`t seem to get a picture as good as my old 2 million pixel camera.
Oh well, I`ll try ringing, but don`t think much of my chances. :)

weirdly, I bought a polaroid camera from Dixons on a wednesday, on the sunday the pictures that had been previously good were coming out black. I walked into the store and said This doesn`t work! I showed them and they gave me a new camera and a film!
as a consumer, the law states that you are fully entitled to a refund.

Only if the goods are faulty.
Have you tried chaning the settings on the camera as Jpeg compression can ruin a photo if set too high?
PCWorld have I think, a 14 day exchage policy if goods are "as new".

You could I suppose argue something along the lines of " How could I know it produced cruddy pix without using it ?"

if you`re prepared to pay a bit xtra for a better camera then i`m sure they will have no issues with returning it.

Afraid not. (If only!) According to the Sale of Goods Act you`re only entitled to a refund under specific circumstances e.g. because the item was faulty, or was misrepresented. It certainly doesn`t let you use something for 2 weeks, then take it back because you don`t like it.
Otherwise, we could all use the likes of HMV as a free DVD rental service. :D
