Page 1 of A "stealth tax" on motorists ?
General Forum
It seems the government wants to levy a compensation tax on top of the fines given for speeding. This extra money could be used to not only compensate victims of road accidents but to also compensate victims of "real crimes". So it seems to me that this so called victims fund comes from the misdemeanours of the motorist and not from the real criminal element. Why should a levy on a motoring fine be used to pay compensation to victims of burglars, murderers or rapists ?

RE: A "stealth tax" on motorists ?
Easy, motorists are the most reliable source of income through their actions second to smokers (Who fund the NHS - if everyone stopped smoking, it would collapse due to lack of funds - true)
Basically it seems that the Govt are making too much money from so called `stealth taxes` that they seem to be desperately trying to justify the money they`re taking. Should this new system `work` then it`ll become a necessary tax, such as the NHS example above.

It doesn`t suprise me that this is happening, but hopefully one day the Government will shoot themselves in the foot with all these taxes. This money ain`t going nowhere besides in the pockets of the all pen pushes the government employes, why don`t they concentrate on this asylum seeker problem??

Compensate the governments coffers is probably more nearer the truth. The way things are going the average joe motorist wont be able to drop a fart, smoking a cigarette, drink a can of coke, pick his nose etc.... etc..... without getting fined!
Makes me sick! >:(

Personally, if I get caught speeding, I`ll be paying the speeding fine, but they can stick the "victim tax" up their ar5e, as there won`t be one.
I`ll buy myslef a couple of pint in sympathy instead.
