enemyonpc (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 1st January 2004, 23:25

Just wondering if anyone knows of any reliable and preferably cheap online retailer that sells 1.77/2.2 Air Rifles or alternativly if anyone knows of any stores in the North East that sells them. The only ones i can find myself are crappy ones from buy everything, sell everything type shops.

Any help is much appreciated
Bryan

I`m not sure if this discussion is allwoed on here. Since it could well be of an affencive nature to some people, I could well see this tread getting closed. You`ll have to check out with the moderaters say.

I`ve got to say the very thought of being able to buy air rifles online makes me feel sick. While I`m sure enemyonpc is a responsible adult who would only use such a weapon for responsible reasons (can`t think of one offhand), there are an awful lot of quarterwits and more worrying underaged quarterwits out there who`ll use them for shooting at everything from rats to old ladies. Giving them the opportunity to tool up without any counter-checks (age, sanity that sort of thing) will only end in tears.

Sorry, Bryan. Nothing personal.

Were responsible Adults who have become amune to sting of a paintball so we just want to up our game with some nice 2.2`s with telescopic sights.

Seriously though, were just target shooters that`s all. We have friends and family down in Devon with loads of land and we go down there every now and again ( me, my dad, brother-inlaw) and now my sisters boyfriend, who doesnt have a gun of his own, hence the site request.

Apologies if any rules are broken and i would understand if this thread was to be closed.

Bryan

My(Air) gun cost £700 and i am allowed by local farmers to go on their land and kill vermin(rats) i pride myself on the clean kill rate

must admit i take offence at your tone mark it`s just as easy for the same(underaged) quaterwits to get booze/adult dvd`s and try to act out some scene from some gore/torture filled movie which makes me sound like all those quaterwits who claimed "CHILDS PLAY" was to blame for certain of the time related events and that all 18+ films should be banned most (air gun) owners are responsible folk (well as much as your average car owner anyway ;)

There always seems to be a load of politically correct crap on these pages. Can`t anyone take things at face value any more without undermining them and trying to make something out of nothing!!

Locally, early in 2003 an OAP was hospitalised after being gut-shot with an air-rifle while out shopping. Police said it had all the hallmarks of a sniper attack. For every one responsible adult who prides himself on a "clean kill" there`s four or five who only want an air-rifle to bullseye cat`s arses. I haven`t seen "Bowling for Columbine", and I`m as politically incorrect as you can get, but I don`t trust human nature. If you really, desperately need to have an air rifle, you should have to carry a firearms licence and have been vetted by the police.

Try a trip into Trago Mills Newton Abbot, they have a selection of air rifles from as little as £22.
