Who goes to the Cinema during working hours

Colin Mac (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 4th December 2003, 00:22

I do and I get paid for it, mind you I am my own boss.

CONFESSIONS OF A SECRET AFTERNOON CINEMA WATCHER

I love the cinema when its nearly empty so you get the big screen clear of bobbing heads and smelling hotdogs.

So own up do you have this dark secret compulsion as well?

Do you sneak in when you should be returning from a meeting back to the office? I used to when I worked for other companies.

Do you sneak out with your hat firmly and sunglasses on to hide your face? I did.

Have you come face to face with the TV cameras asking how you enjoyed the film?
I did, but I zoomed past them at high speed without comment. Arrg! nearly got caught there!

Do you go out your way to find a cinema away from your work? I used to.

Did you feel guilty? I did`nt.

So there you are, its confession time, tell us your juicy story and I promise not to tell YOUR boss :p

I have used my flexi time to go to the cinema in the past. Not quite the same though I suppose.

I used to work for a vending machine replenishment company. a few times I finished early and popped into my local flicks. The last time was for spiderman. T`was ok, but in an empty cinema these 2 pricks sat 5 seats away from me and chatted throughout the film.

I threw my shoe at them

I`ve done it a few times, the last being for The Matrix Revolutions. I didn`t feel guilty though, as I was being made redundant the following week and the company still owes me over £600...

I used to go to the cinema all the time during work hours. But then again I was the projectionist....lol

I`m the boss in my company, so I`ll go if it`s a big movie and there`s nothing pressing to take care of (like the VAT). Then I`ll make up the time afterwards...but that`s hardly the same, is it?

Only when I`ve been working out of the UK. Once in Madrid to watch Rainman - which turned out to be dubbed in Spanish so I couldn`t make head or tail of it, but felt too self-concious to get up and leave. Especially as I was on my own - which for some pathetic reason I find terribly embarressing...anyone else feel self-concious about going alone?!

Back in 2000 I used to do it all the time.
Every day in fact for about four months - that was a great feeling...
Sneeking up to the auditorium and sitting in the dark at 2pm when you were supposed to be at work...

Then again it was when i worked at The Empire, Leicester Sq!!

Great skive tho.

I`ve been known to go for a curry on my own.

Nothing to do with the thread, just wanted to share that with you.

I`ve gone to the Prince CHarles many a time on a work day afternoon - last time was the Halloween all-dayer.

I`m not too fussed about going to the cinema on my own, theres a lot of films the missus isn`t interested in, and you`re going to watch a film not have a conversation.

Maybe there should be a "single man at the cinema club" forum where people post which film and at what cinema they`re going to and people can join them!! (actually that sounds a bit dodgy reading it back....)
