Aldi medion price differences

bear (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 30th January 2001, 11:34

My brother wanted to buy a DVD player but coudn`t afford a lot of cash and just wants to use it for rental DVDs at the weekend, I said I would look out for him on internet, lot of people seem to like the Medion from Aldi and most seem to pay only £99-99p for it.

Took him to my local Aldi store to look at it, and the price was £129.95 ,so I questioned the price and they told us that they have always been at £129.95 and that the price is the same in every store, and the price has never been at £99.99p.

Can anybody explain this, maybe somebody who works in a Aldi.store.

Took him to Richer sounds but their £100.00 specials were out of stock!

bear: I believe there were two Medion models. The more expensive one having the MP3 option.

BUY IT!

The model No is MEDION MD7950a .

Also the owners of the £99-99p machines play MP3s so I think its the same model but a third dearer in my local Aldi.

Dont be so tight, for another seventy five pounds you could get yourself
a really amazing machine. It is called a Scan 2000 you can see their ad banner on this smashing site !

No problem, Your Very Very Welcome.

Well the feedback on these forums is correct the Medion does every thing that a scan does, with one added feature called reliability, and all for a £100-£129.00 , SUCKERS!

The medion did start at £129.99 then there was a sale and they sold them off for £99.99.(aparantly they was bought as a loss leader for £190.00 to aldi so how much would they sell for in the highstreet ,i dunno)
I have a sammy 511 and the medion player that i payed a £99.99 for, this player plays vcds (american pie2) that my sammy dont and cdrs which the sammy dont.
I have played pitch black on it with no problem at all ,in fact i havnt had a problem with it at all yet.
As for looks the medion beats the sammy and alot of the other dvd players i have looked at into the ground, and im not even going to mention the headphone socket and volume control on the front (ok so u are never going to use it) the karaoke feature...............let alone all the sockets on the back for the speakers for the 5.1 channel sound...
For £129.99 it is worth that of anybodys money (and even better if u can get it for £99.99)
If anyone knows of a player with these credentials for anywhere near that money plz let me know my son wants one now cause aldi sold out
I wonder why

Well the sale seemed to have missed our local store they still got six left at £129.95 , why should we pay a third more than other stores, it just a mystery to me, thanks anyway!

They have always been £99.99 in the two local stores to me - Hyde and Ashton-u-Lyne and last time I went in the Ashton store they had stacks of them. Everyone was going mad for the TV`s and leaving the DVD players.
