Toshiba SD2109 hack or spare part

Katie20 (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 14th January 2000, 10:55

I know nothing about my DVD, can it play region 1 DVDs, if not does anyone know a good hack? Also if you know where to get parts (plastic front for digital display) I would be grateful as I managed to drop the stupid thing. Thanks

katie, Your a funny girl!!

I can help with part of your question. No your DVD player cannot play Region 1 disks, unless it had been modifyed already for region free use when bought.

I have not heard of any Hacks for the Toshiba to play region 1 disks - unless of course it is tampered with by a qualified electrician.

Regarding dropping the thing and spare parts - ring Toshiba directly they should be able to help. Although I doubt your warranty will cover that unfortunate accident.

Cheers

I think the only multi-region option for this player is to get it chipped at somewhere like http://www.techtronics.com

Thanks Rugrat

I`ll take the fact that i`m funny as Funny-ha ha rather than funny-wierd.
I think I`ll probably have to leave it broken, I rang Toshiba and the only part available was a whole new front and I`m not paying for that! Cheers anyway

Sorry katie, Just read your reply!!

Yes Funny Ha - Ha.

I was gonna purchase your DVD player, it`s had rave reviews especially regarding picture quality and sound. In fact the picture quality has been a benchmark measure for newer DVD players on the scene (in the same price range). My other choice was the Hitachi 250 and the JVC XV515 as you know I went for the JVC, mainly because I wanted the CD player to be of a good standard. (I was also assured the audio range was good and hence would play CD`s well.)

Your right about Matsui`s they are generally not of a good standard (watching my words here) and the front fascia did not appeal to me.

Happy viewing - chat to you soon!!
