Page 1 of MATSUI 110 Hack ?
General Forum
I have recently bought a Matsui 110 from Currys. It seems to work perfectly, having no problems with Matrix etc.
I have not yet managed to find any reviews of this player, or any information regarding known hacks for multi-region.
Has anyone come across a handset Hack ?
The Firmware is Macrovision PAL/NTSC Version 002
with a software date of 991103
Harry.
Not heard of one, if it was based on another player that might be a clue as to if there is in fact one.
I know these days we are getting to expect remote hacks for all entry level DVD players but unfortunately that isnt the case for all of them. Still you never know. ;-)
I have been chatting with Steve from www.dvdchips.co.uk and he has recently developed a chip for this make. He has told me it is like a playstation mod chip so i am not sure if this is what you are looking for. If you uncover anything else about this matter i woul dbe grateful if you contacted me.
Thanks SimonP
I did see a message posted by dvdchipsuk on another website.
So far all I have managed to find out is that on the Matsui`s menu screen, pressing the menu key again, reveals the firmware info screen.
Also, powering on the player with the play and stop buttons held in, appears to perform a diagnostic on the unit. I guess there`s more hidden away in there, but I haven`t found it yet.

Well it was more than what i knew about. I orderd my chip today so it should be here within 4 days depending on steve.
If you find out anything ele please post it i will do the same also
From the DVD Times website:
Make sure there is no disc in the player then press the following buttons
MENU
Number 9
OPEN/CLOSE
Number 5
At this stage the region selection option will appear on screen!
No news yet on if there is a limit as to how many times you can change it, and we need someone to verify it for us ASAP.
Yes, I`ve followed the instructions and they appear to work.
When pressing the Open/Close button, the disc draw doesn`t actually open. Also there is no indication on the player, or the TV screen, that the instructions from the remote are being received. On the finally key entry, the screen displays: Region selection 1 - 6
I haven`t tried playing a disc in it yet and there may well be a limit on the number of times that it can be used.
Thanks
Harry
Great! I`ll keep you posted on if theres a limit. I`m sure we`ll know in the next week either way.
Is there anyway that you can also play VCD`s on this player. The instructions in the previous message work.
Does this mean that there may be a way that the handset could be hacked rather than chipping the actual unit?
cheers
Okay you`ve lost me. :-)
As far as I know, all DVD players can play VCD, although only some can play copies of VCDs on CDR due to lazer frequencies.
