Hi, My son has a grundig dvd 210A, I have enabled the regional hack and it works fine....Trouble is he uses his combi tv-video with dvd player..
All seems fine, but all his dvd films except one plays erratically...
ie: flickers to a blue screen then in secs goes back to film , does this a lot.. canNot watch dvd`s properly, which I suppose means its his tv-video which is at fault, as dvd`s work perfectly on my living room telly...
But strange thing is one dvd film plays all through?????????? , its AbsolutlyFabulous dvd reg 2 , why I do not know...
Any solutions are welcomed..
Thanks.
All dvd`s are mix of 1&2

Hi there, it`s not your combi thats at fault.
It`s a copy protection system called "macrovision".

Because the combi routes the signal through it`s VCR tuner first, the copy protection kicks in.

Absolutely Fab must be a title that has no macro signal encoded (there are a few around), but most titles will "Flash" their colours and "stripe" the screen.
Dunno if there`s a 210A macro hack, anyone else know of one?

Other solutions are:

Get a seperate tv and video, and omit the video when using the DVD (minimum cost around £130)

Get a "bug buster" or "inline decoder", prices range from £30 to £100, but all do basically the same job.
If you get a decoder with no scart, you may have to buy a scart adapter too, but these are only about £3 or £4 usually.
Hope this helps! :o)

Michael @ Switch-it-on.co.uk does one for about £45, but it doesn`t use a scart, however includes the leads to connect to a scart telly.

I believe that Maplin and a few other places on line seel them too, but dunno about costs.

Try using the search feature on all the forums for "bug buster" and "inline decoder"

Hope that helps! ;o)
