Alan, I am fine apart from a masive bout of anger.

kywy, My dad`s not to good and I am coming to terms with the the fact he is going to die sooner rather that later. But If he is going to die let the bloke die with some f***ing dignity. If you ask for a bed pan as you need a s*** you would expect some one to come back with one. Or is that asking to much? He should not be let to fester in his own s***.

It should not be up to my mum with no medical training to point out to the so called profesonals that my dad now has a blood clot in his leg and then have to put pressure on them to be bother to check it out. Guess what my mum was right.

If you are going to be ill please do it in Nottingham as the queens med is fantastic.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Andrew.

It`s no real help, but there comes a time if a loved one is suffering from a terminal illness, when the anger and frustration stops, mentally you accept the inevitable and pray that they have a quick and merciful release from the pain and suffering.
My thoughts are with you and your family, my friend.
Phil

I am comimg to terms with it slowly and the bloody unfairness of it is subsiding. But while he is been treated as a piece of meat that is taking up a bed I will remain bloody angry. In Queens med they could not do enough for all the inmates in there. Leicester Royal is a discrace.

Thanks anyway Phil.

All the best,

Andrew.

It probaby wont help for me to tell you my wifes gran died of cancer a few years ago @ the infirmary however she was well treated and died a graceful death to say the least.

From what i know they were helpful and polite - Im really sorry your having a crap time with them currently, and am even sorrier you going through some harcore cr*p.

Not much one can say when others are in this position but my thoughts are with you mate.

Regards,

Neil

Thanks mate, It would proberbly help if he was in the oncology(?) ward rather than a general one. But that does not excuse the general lack of care that costs litle time and less money.

All the best,

Andrew.

i know it is a terrible experience to go through.
my dad was recently in hospital over christmas and we didn`t think he would make it ....this was in dundee ninewells.
fortunately he came through it and i have to thank the wonderful intensive care unit for that.
having spent 2 months in that hospital, it became blatantly clear that the i.c. dept has hudgely superior standards in terms of personel, equipment and general patient care.
however, i feel that patients should be treated with the same level of respect and empathy regardless of the ward they are in. unfortunately, other wards suffer as a result of budgetary constraints. the general wards frequently contain patients who have terminal conditions and who have to endure the lower standards of care in these wards.
i feel exceptions have to be made and regardless of the financial implications, it is criminal that your dad isn`t provided with the best of facilities. under these terrible circumstances, exceptions have to be made.
best regards to you and your family,
kozza.

Thanks again. I am not looking for the best of care (how much money do you spend on a dying man?) but some care and a bit of respect, please.

All the best,

Andrew.
