Car Insurance online, sites that compare quotes, HELP !!

foxmeister (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 26th February 2003, 17:16

Just about to start the annual task of searching online for the cheapest car insurance for my wife and I.
Anyone tried any good sites recently that you only have to put in your details once and it will search through the companies for you ??
Thanks in anticipation .....

Autotrader (http://www.autotrader.co.uk) used to do this and give you a table of the best prices.

Just stuck with Direct Line myself this year, were a good £100 cheaper than anyone else...

Might wonna give http://www.cis.co.uk a whizz, doesnt give you the option of multiply quotations but never the less quite a good quote.... or http://www.confused.com which does give you multiply quotations.

Avoid confused.com, you`ll start getting unsolicited calls from some of the insurers.

I tried pretty much all of them when looking for insurance. Directline was the cheapest for me, but it may vary depending on your situation, Admiral and Elephant were close behind, I think Swinton and Budget were a bit more expensive. The AA and RAC should be avoided like the plague if you are looking for the cheapest. The supermarkets and banks get someone else to do it for them and may be able to do a good deal if you are a fan of their stupid loyalty cards. Churchill are quite expensive especially for younger drivers IMO.

Endsleigh may be worth ringing and asking them to beat your cheapest quote, especially if you already use them to insure your home.
