Climbie parents consider legal action

porno for pirates (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 28th January 2003, 23:40

It seems that the parents of murdered Victoria Climbie are considering taking legal action against Social Services. Although the social workers involved in the case clearly were negligent, don`t the parents feel even remotely responsible for entrusting their own feral relatives to care for the child? Apparently not!

Another fine example of todays society in which everyone knows their rights but not their responsibilities

I just hate the way that the Climbies are sanctimoniously condemning British Social Services.

According to the press, they sent their daughter to live with a feckless great aunt and her psycho boyfriend because they wanted the child to receive a better standard of education. Of course, it would be deeply cynical (and probably racist) to suggest that they sold their daughter to people who wanted to claim extra state benefits.

Jesus, that`s a bit harsh Dwight! Is it too much to believe that these are naive people who thought that their child would have a better life in Britain? Obviously they haven`t seen the state of the British education system........but even so.........

It may be harsh, but its true.

If you read the report, you`ll realise the parents are as much to blame as the inept social workers.

In my opinion one of the major factors in this childs death (other than the parents and the great aunt) is political correctness. Social workers are always thinking of the rights of everyone with the exception of the child in question.
Also how on earth does someone `decide` that they will send their child from a far flung country to England to be educated - don`t worry about the cost, the British tax paying mugs will pick up the bill!
I am sure that there will be many people on this forum who will call me racist (yet again) and will argue that it is `their right` to be able to come to the UK to get free education all because our great great great grandfathers plundered their country! No wonder our education system is failing our kids.

I do feel for the parents but I wonder how they could have had no idea. Surely just talking to the childs locum parents on the phone or Victoria herself would have rung alarm bells for most people.
I think the poor child was let down( mainly by the people she lived with) but I do hope the childs real parents give any monies won to childrens protection charities etc to help other children in similar situations.
Mark.
