Footballer`s Gambling

NewFound (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 19th January 2003, 19:11

Does anyone really care about how much money is being lost? It`s all over the news lately but these guys can obviously afford it and if they can`t it`s their life and they can do as they choose! So why is it getting so much attention?

I reckon there`s just nothing else going on at the minute so the press are just trying to bring up old crap again. It`s been going on ever since 60`s/70`s and it`s not very interesting, I don`t even bother reading about it.

Hello,

I think it`s important to mention that these players may be role models for our children.
Michael Owen has various spoinsorship deals aimed directly at easily influenced children/youths. Don`t you think he should take some responsibility off the field, if he is prepared to take the cash for these sponsorship deals ?

The same should be said for Pop Stars, Film Stars etc...the best example being Ginger Spice selling her Yoga Video, as a weight loss trick, while checking in for Bulimia treatment.

I think we should be informed about this type of thing.

That`s my view, no offence meant.

Neil

" I think we should be informed about this type of thing "

Wayne,

I agree, it no where near merits that kind of coverage, i can think of loads more things I`d like to see.

Neil.
