BT vs NTL

washu (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 14th August 2002, 12:44

Was about to get rid of NTL as its prices were too high but that would mean messing about with broadband so I ring them up and yak on about the phone line which we dont use. I am now thinking of using the phone line instead of BT`s. Thing is, last time I used NTL phone, the bill was BIG. I use about £25 of calls on BT at the mo. Question is, is it worth it? I wangled a free phone number transfer out of them too as they need the cutomers!

to be honest m8 i work for telewest and if ntl dont merge soon they will both be out of buisness the only thing keeping both companies going is broadband if like telewest there policy is if a customer is not spending a least 40 quid a month on services they dont give a F**k about there customers

Im an engineer for B.T and I carn`t agree more with the guy above ( and I not just being biased) the amount of customer`s that we are reconnecting back to B.T is amazing, and it`s all down to poor customer service, and before you say it B.T`s not perfect I know, but believe it or not they do care about there customer`s.So id stay with B.T you`ll be coming back sooner or later anyway!.

Tell you what, if it wasn`t for Ntl broardband i`d be back to BT like a shot. The customer service on Ntl is p*ss poor, i spent 2hrs on hold the other day and still didn`t get to speak to anyone, and that`s not uncommon, i would also say that i find Ntl dearer than BT aswell :((

Well, I was looking at the talk unlimited package today and for £8 a month for free evening and weekend calls (for the st hour, like BT) I was pretty impressed. When we had Cable and Wireless as the phone, the prices were crazy, I think it was that 4.9p connection charge but BT have a minimum 5p charge anyway. We hardly ever use the phone anyway, out last bill for calls was £25 and charges were £50 so I think it might make sense to get rid of BT`s charges and make use of the line we get with the NTL package. Opinions please.

Lads, if you think BT is cheaper than NTL you are quite frankly bonkers!
Try to get a standard line rental charge and call charges out of BT and see how it compares to NTL.
What you generally find with BT is that any special package they have is paid for in the service charge!
p.s. the broadband that bt offer is crap compared to NTL.
