Converting Mini Discs into MP3`s / WAV`s

I`m no technical whizz kid but can this be done? I`ve a raft of mini discs and I`d like to burn some of them onto CD..... is it possible? If so, how?

Cheers!

Yes you just go `line out` from the mini disk to `line in` on the computer. I use Cool Edit 2000 to record them but `Music Match` (free on line) & many others allow you to bring them onto the computer as W.A.V. files. Then go to whatever folder you have put them in & Burn. The same is for MP3 instead of W.A.V. set the music match etc on MP3. I hope this is clear.

If you use line in you wont get digital quality. You would need a sound card with a digital input for that.

I agree, but the difference is really slight, & for the money a card costs it seems not worth it, unless you are a perfectionist.

I did find this USB box with a digital input which is about £48 at Dabs.

Not sure its any good or if you can get a cheaper sound card?

Finally got round to giving this a whirl this weekend. And whilst the quality was good, I did experience some problems. I used my personal MD player and connected it to line in on the PC, used musicmatch and set the MP3 level at 160bitrate. It worked fine for individual tracks but I tried to be a cocky bleeder and shove whole albums on a single mp3. Again the sound was good quality yet on playback there were frequent `jumps` in the music like it was skipping. The only reason I can put to this is that I was using the PC for surfing and other stuff whilst recording to Musicmatch and as a result recording performance might start to dip. Can anyone advise please?
